About BlackSouls.app
What BlackSouls.app is, how guides are reviewed, which sources we use, and how to report a correction.
BlackSouls.app is a guide, walkthrough and database site for the BLACK SOULS series — BLACK SOULS and BLACK SOULS II, the dark fairy-tale RPGs by developer Eeny, meeny, miny, moe?, published on Steam by OTAKU Plan and NEWS.
What we cover
- Walkthroughs and route guides for both games, built around multi-cycle play
- A database of characters, bosses, items and all 22 endings
- Interactive tools — an Ending Checker, Route Planner, Achievement Tracker and Item Finder — that run entirely in your browser
- Platform and status pages that answer the practical questions honestly: where to buy the games, whether an Android version exists, and what is known about DEAD RED HOOD and BLACK SOULS 3
Editorial method
We separate evidence by what it can actually prove:
- Official-source checked — release, platform, language, publisher, announcement, and global achievement data checked against the relevant Steam listing or developer post.
- In-game tested — a route, flag, location, or failure condition reproduced in a named game version and language. A first-hand capture or precise test note should accompany it.
- Editorially reviewed — structure, wording, internal consistency, and cited sources reviewed, but every route claim has not necessarily been replayed during that review.
- Needs review — useful working material that does not yet meet the site’s external indexing threshold.
Steam global achievement percentages help establish rarity and broad progression order. They do not prove an exact route, trigger, or lockout by themselves. Those claims need an in-game test, an official source, or a clearly labelled secondary source.
Core guides display a review panel with its date, scope, reviewer, tested version/language when available, and source links. Pages without that panel should be treated as legacy reference material, not as independently re-verified instructions.
Indexing threshold
A character, boss, item, or location page is eligible for external indexing only when it answers a distinct player task with a precise location, prerequisites, executable steps, failure or lockout conditions, rewards/results, related routes, version context, evidence, and a real change record. Short profiles remain accessible through the hub and site search but are kept out of the public sitemap until expanded.
Image policy
Official Steam artwork and screenshots are labelled as publisher-provided media. They can show the game’s setting or interface, but they are not presented as proof that this site’s route instructions were tested. Community images are not republished without a clear usage right. First-hand guide captures should avoid unnecessary explicit imagery and record the game, route step, language, and capture date.
Spoiler policy
Structural spoilers, not narrative ones. We’ll tell you that fourteen endings exist and how their routes relate; we won’t tell you what happens in them. Pages that go deeper carry a Spoiler Level marker in their info card.
Contact and corrections
Found an error? We want it — accuracy is this site’s entire premise. Reach us via the contact page with the page URL, game version/language, expected result, actual result, and a screenshot or save-state note if available. Material corrections are recorded in the affected page’s update history instead of silently changing its review date.
