BLACK SOULSSpoiler-controlled player guide

BLACK SOULS Characters

A spoiler-controlled roster for both games. Filter by game, type, recruitable, missable or ending. Character pages that say full route tell you where they appear, what to do at each progression beat, and what permanently closes the line. Leaf, Red Hood and Mabel have full published routes. The other 13 detail pages now have source-reviewed prerequisites, encounter order, lockouts and rewards; they remain excluded from external search until a current Steam playthrough and original captures verify them.

Data and page structure reviewed. Reviewed . Steam completion rates use the July 2026 global-stat snapshot and indicate popularity, not route triggers. Currently 3 of 16 character pages contain full routes; 13 additional routes have a community-source cross-check and remain noindex pending first-hand captures. 18 additional named NPCs are listed without a separate URL.Methodology· Report a correction.

Leaf in-game character portrait

Leaf

BS1 · BS2
Heroine (BLACK SOULS) / Hidden-route key (BLACK SOULS II)

Leaf is the first companion most players meet in BLACK SOULS and the face of its most-completed character ending (28%). In BLACK SOULS II, Mary Ann (Leaf) gives one ring in Queensland; that same item unlocks the achievement and gates the hidden F/G route.

Red Hood in-game character portrait

Red Hood

BS1 · BS2
Heroine and boss (BLACK SOULS) / Hidden-route key (BLACK SOULS II)

The wolf-hunting girl of the Grimm tale. In BLACK SOULS she is a paid recruit with a mother she must not meet. In BLACK SOULS II she is the SEN-0 bonfire ghost whose ten meetings open Ending G — and therefore DLC3 and Ending H.

Alice in-game character portrait

Alice

BS2
Central character of BLACK SOULS II

The girl at the heart of Wonderland. BLACK SOULS II is built on Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and Alice herself anchors the game's most-completed ending.

Mabel in-game character portrait

Mabel

BS2
Major recurring character and boss

Mabel, Girl of Nihility, is threaded through BLACK SOULS II as a voice, a Chaos Dungeon bartender, a Winterbell drunk, a boss, and the person standing between you and Leiden. None of her three tracked events are on the critical path to Alice End — all three are easy to miss.

Mary Ann

BS2
Leaf's Queensland identity and ring handover

Mary Ann is the name used for Leaf in BLACK SOULS II's Queensland jail event. Leaving the meeting peacefully gives the single Leaf's Ring used by both the achievement and hidden F/G route.

Cheshire Cat

BS2
Wonderland guide and trickster

The grinning cat of Wonderland, found early in the Park of Fog. Playing with him is one of the first optional discoveries most players make in BLACK SOULS II.

Duchess Margaret von Tyrol in-game character portrait

Duchess

BS2
Wonderland noble with a dark appetite

Carroll's pepper-loving Duchess, reimagined with a taste for the rare and the forbidden. She appears across several optional events — from the croquet grounds of Red Castle Frissel to the Walrus' Dwelling.

Dorothy in-game character portrait

Dorothy

BS1
Heroine with her own ending

The girl from the Wizard of Oz thread of BLACK SOULS. Her personal ending is completed by about a quarter of players, and the Oz motif she carries continues into the sequel's Fairy Tale collection.

Jeanne d'Arc in-game character portrait

Jeanne d'Arc

BS1 · BS2
Heroine, holy beast, and folk tale

The saint of Orléans, dragged into the Lost Empire's mist. Her route in BLACK SOULS spans both an ending and one of the game's rarest boss fights, and her legend persists in BLACK SOULS II as a collectible Folk Tale.

BS2
Looking-Glass egg with a hungry secret

Elma in-game character portrait

Elma

BS1
Heroine with her own ending

These names already show up in endings, the map and tools. They do not get their own URL until a route is documented and reviewed — that is deliberate. Search still finds them from the notes below.
