Route overview
The Cheshire Cat first acts as a Rabbit Hole guide, then offers a separate hide-and-seek event in the Park of Fog. The useful route reward is the fall-damage-prevention ring.
Before you start
- Keep SEN at 30 or higher if you want to converse normally; below 30 the early Cat cannot be understood, and at SEN 0 or lower the Cat may not be visible.
- Defeat the Headhunting Beast and continue from Lutwidge into the Park of Fog.
- Follow the lamp posts rather than walking through unlit fog, which resets the route.
What closes the route
- Choosing a hostile early dialogue option makes the Rabbit Hole Cat disappear without giving the starter item.
- Walking into unlit fog resets your Park position but does not permanently fail the ring event.
- The post-G basement scene cannot be completed on an ordinary first cycle.
Encounter order
| When | Where | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Opening | Rabbit Hole, beside the red door | Speak once and choose one of the six offered starter items. |
| After Headhunting Beast | Park of Fog | Follow the lamps until you find the Cat before leaving for Upper Lutwidge. |
| At the Cat event | Park of Fog side path | Complete the spot-the-difference-style game and collect the Cheshire Cat's Ring. |
| After Ending G | Dream Library basement | A later optional conversation becomes available; it is separate from the early achievement. |
Rewards and outcomes
- One early starter item in Rabbit Hole
- Cheshire Cat's Ring, which prevents falling deaths and changes some conversations
- “Tomfoolery” / Cheshire Cat event achievement
First-hand capture still required
- Rabbit Hole SEN visibility states
- Park lamp route and Cat event prompt
- Ring description and a safe fall test
Why this character matters
The Cheshire Cat is an early Wonderland signpost rather than a conventional recruit. His Park of Fog event is widely found, and his dialogue favors indirect direction over explicit objectives.
That makes him most useful when the area's paths start to feel circular: return conversations can provide context without replacing the map or the main walkthrough.
Plan this route
- Explore the Park of Fog side paths before leaving the area and interact when the play prompt appears.
- Return after major progression beats if his dialogue changes; do not expect a quest-log marker.
- Use his hints alongside the map when choosing among the early Wonderland branches.
