Route overview
Humpty Dumpty is a timed soul-investment event. Raising him to level 99 creates the Chick; keeping Jubjub alive until progression 10 creates a rarer follow-up but sacrifices many other NPC routes in that cycle.
Before you start
- Reach Carroll River and travel far left from the lower bridge near the bonefire.
- Reserve roughly 900,000 souls to raise Humpty Dumpty to level 99.
- Complete the birth before progression 10, when Jubjub's madness event removes Humpty Dumpty.
What closes the route
- Reaching progression 10 before the birth removes Humpty Dumpty and blocks the Chick for that cycle.
- Killing or imprisoning Jubjub prevents the rare Chick meeting.
- Keeping Jubjub active to progression 10 kills or breaks many other NPC routes; use a dedicated branch save.
- Killing the Chick ends later Chick events even though it refunds the soul investment.

Why this character matters
Humpty Dumpty's simple request grows into a two-character event chain. The first milestone consumes souls to produce the Chick; the rarer follow-up depends on preserving both the Chick and Jubjub threads.
Because souls are both progression currency and quest input, this line is easier to finish when its cost is budgeted before arriving at Carroll River.
Plan this route
- Reserve souls for the feeding sequence instead of spending the entire balance before each visit.
- After the Chick appears, protect both related character threads until their Carroll River encounter.
- Return to the river after progression changes; the second event is much easier to miss than the first.
