Historical legend — the Maid of Orléans

The second-rarest boss kill in BLACK SOULS. The saint transformed into a holy beast is one of the game's ultimate challenges, woven into Jeanne's character route.

Where and when

Holy Beast Jeanne d'Arc is the hostile Karma branch of Jeanne's companion route. Revive Jeanne first, then deliberately make her leave at Karma 10 or higher to create the rooftop fight.

Location

Lost Empire rooftop after Jeanne leaves Holy Forest.

Prerequisites

  • Recover Jeanne's Ashes east of Fort Ivern.
  • Obtain Kraken's Tentacle and use Keto in Skeleton Maze 1F to revive Jeanne.
  • Raise Karma to 10 or higher, speak to recruited Jeanne, then follow her to the rooftop.

Attack cues and responses

Cue / pattern
The source-reviewed route confirms the transformation trigger but not a dependable frame-by-frame attack table.
Treat this as an endgame optional fight and log every named skill during the first-hand regression before narrowing the build recommendation.

Loadout

  • Bring the completed endgame weapon and strong physical/holy mitigation available to the build.
  • Create a branch save before the Karma-10 conversation so Jeanne End remains recoverable.

Rewards

  • Holy Beast Jeanne d'Arc achievement
  • Jeanne's hostile-route tale / completion reward

Route risks

  • Speaking to Jeanne at Karma 10 or higher makes her leave and closes Jeanne End for that cycle.
  • This fight is a branch outcome, not a prerequisite for the normal companion ending.

First-hand verification backlog

Capture these in one documented Steam-version run before this page becomes indexable:

  • Karma value before the departure conversation
  • Holy Forest departure
  • Rooftop spawn
  • Full move log and reward screen

Context and planning notes

Only 12.1% of players have won this fight — among tracked bosses, only Saint Catherine (11.4%) is rarer. Treat it as a final exam.

Jeanne's ending does not strictly require brute force; her questline branches. Fight her when your build is finished, not before.

Pair this page with the endings guide: her route decisions interact with which conclusion of the game you can reach in the same cycle.
