Where and when

Mad Devil Hyde is a DLC3 Nightmare encounter created by accepting Dr. Jekyll's free medicine and speaking again. The fight includes an absolute-hit instant-death threat, so revival or death resistance is the central preparation check.

Location

DLC3 Crimea Graveyard, second floor, room 201.

Prerequisites

  • Unlock DLC3 and reach Crimea Graveyard 2F room 201.
  • Remain living / non-Hollow for the Nightmare state.
  • Accept the free organ fluid / medicine, then speak to the NPC again.

Attack cues and responses

Cue / pattern
Hyde uses a Death effect documented as absolute-hit.
Do not rely on ordinary accuracy/evasion. Equip instant-death resistance or a reliable revive plan.
The medicine conversation changes into the hostile Hyde state.
Finish equipment and save management before the second conversation; it is the practical point of no return for the attempt.

Loadout

  • Instant-death resistance is the priority slot.
  • Add revival and enough burst or sustain for a DLC3 optional boss.
  • Avoid a pure evasion plan against the absolute-hit Death effect.

Rewards

  • Two-Faced Small Shield
  • Tainted Black Soul
  • Blessed with a transcendent drug achievement

Route risks

  • The invasion requires the correct living state.
  • The free medicine and follow-up conversation are part of the trigger; walking away after the first interaction leaves the event incomplete.

First-hand verification backlog

Capture these in one documented Steam-version run before this page becomes indexable:

  • Room 201 map position
  • Medicine choice and second conversation
  • Life-state UI
  • Death effect against resistance and without it
  • Both rewards

Context and planning notes

Hyde belongs to the game's late optional tier alongside Prince of Fear (16.5%) and the deepest questline events.

The 'transcendent drug' framing of his achievement is a warning label: expect erratic, phase-shifting behavior rather than a clean pattern you can learn once.

Clear him before your final route push if you are chasing full completion — late-cycle bosses can lock behind story states.
