Whale Beast
BLACK SOULS II · Mid game · Optional

The great fish that swallowed a wooden boy. Defeating the Whale Beast unlocks "Here Comes Pinocchio" — and the Fairy Tale [Pinocchio] waits nearby.
Where and when
Whale Beast is an optional Deep Sea boss tied to Pinocchio. Defeating it unlocks Pinocchio as a summon for Deep Sea Knight; the Pinocchio tale achievement is awarded through that follow-up, not merely by the Whale Beast kill.
Location
Deep Sea, lower-right route.
Prerequisites
- Reach the lower-right Deep Sea route.
- Plan to continue to Deep Sea Knight with Pinocchio summoned if the tale achievement is the goal.
Attack cues and responses
Loadout
- Use sustained damage and enough recovery for a roughly 600,000-HP target.
- Reserve the summon slot and route state needed for the subsequent Deep Sea Knight step.
Rewards
- Pinocchio summon availability for Deep Sea Knight
- Progress toward Here Comes Pinocchio / the Pinocchio tale follow-up
Route risks
- The Whale Beast kill alone does not complete the Pinocchio tale achievement.
- Skipping the Pinocchio summon at Deep Sea Knight leaves the follow-up incomplete.
First-hand verification backlog
Capture these in one documented Steam-version run before this page becomes indexable:
- Lower-right Deep Sea route
- Boss HP and complete move log
- Pinocchio summon becoming available
- Deep Sea Knight summon and tale award
Context and planning notes
A 28.2% completion rate puts the Whale Beast in the mid-route tier — harder than the town bosses, well short of Hyde and the Prince.
Pair the fight with collecting Fairy Tale [Pinocchio] ("What an Awfully Absurd and Crude Stage", 25.4%) so you don't have to return to the area twice.
As a literal leviathan, expect a fight about positioning and patience rather than trading blows.
